The run is 5 miles long. That’s just over 8 kilometers.
How long is the St. Patrick's Day Parade Run?
What time does the run begin?
Didn't this run have competitive and non-competitive divisions?
For years, we have distinguished between the two categories. Now all runners who register by March 16th receive a bib number with a timing chip affixed. All runners who finish with a chipped number are eligible to qualify for a prize. The chip does not need to be returned. As always, we welcome runners of all skill and experience levels.
Where can I find race results, after the run?
How old must I be to participate in the run?
Runners of all ages and abilities are welcome. Please note that streets will reopen after the bulk of the pack has passed, so slower runners may be asked to make their way to the sidewalks. Prizes are awarded for males and females in categories from ages 14 and under through 70 and over.
Do you allow walking, jogging strollers, and/or pets?
Walking participants and jogging strollers are allowed in the run; however, we ask that you be considerate of the other runners. Please, for the safety of yourselves and your children, we ask that you start near the back of the pack. Remember that streets will re-open to traffic once the running pack has passed, so you will likely be asked to use the sidewalk after a while. Pets are not allowed in the run.
Where is the T-shirt pick-up?
Starting March 12th, you may bring your registration confirmation to claim your bib and shirt. Please note: You must present the registration confirmation in order to pick up your bib and shirt.
You can pick up a shirt for a friend, so long as you have their registration confirmation to present. Please contact your pick-up location if you are planning on picking up 5 or more shirts. The location will have a record of any runner’s preferred size.
Or, if you insist on waiting till the last minute, you may pick up your bib and shirt near the run registration at the north entrance of Ballpark Village (located at the NW corner of 7th & Walnut Street), from 7:30 to 9:00 am on the morning of the run while supplies last.
Shirts may be available at the Runners’ Village after the run. Contact us for details on how to pick up your shirt during the weeks after the run if you don’t receive one beforehand.
The T-shirt pick-up locations will also be conducting in-person registration at the same times. You can register to get your chipped bib number and shirt (while supplies last) simultaneously.
Where do I attach my timing chip?
Your chip will come affixed to your bib number. You need only to pin the number to the front of your shirt. Nothing needs to be returned.
Who do I contact with further questions?
What prizes are awarded?
The top 10 finishers in each division will receive medals or ribbons.
Has the St. Patrick's Day Parade Run ever been cancelled?
No. In extremely bad weather, we might make the run a non-competitive event, for the safety of all runners. This happened in 2000; in that case, prizes were awarded by lottery.
How long has this event existed?
We are pleased to announce that this is our 40th year!
Where should I park on run day?
Runners are encouraged to take MetroLink to the Busch Stadium stop – just steps from the start line. If you choose to drive, parking south and east of the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark may be your best bet. Please note that many streets on the route start closing as soon as 8:30 a.m. on Run morning. Consult our Run Route page, for additional information.
